Pick Me! Pupdate
It's time to choose your puppy! Selections are easy, just EMAIL me your list of favorite puppies by the end of the day tomorrow (May 3rd). If you are the last person on the waitlist, then you need to send me a list of 7 pups (favorite to least favorite). If you are 6th on the list you need to send me a list of 6, 5th a list of 5, and so on. Please feel free to email me any questions you have and I will be sure to get back to you quickly, or I am more than happy to chat on the phone, just let me know what time works for you (or feel free to give me a call, I will call you back ASAP if I miss you).
This litter is all VERY similar. No puppy stands out as being overly timid, independent, dominant, or energetic. I suspect that you could likely pull any pup out of a "hat" and they will thrive in a typical household. All pups appear to be mid-level energy (with the exception of Yellow, who is leaning more energetic than the others, though still mid-level). As far as weight goes, this litter is a little tricky for me to accurately estimate since this is Jack's first litter. At this time, they are trending a little smaller than I expected, so I THINK that we may see more pups land in the 25-30lb range than 30-35lb, however, I can't guarantee they will all stay under 30lb since both parents are 30lb. Ms. Purple does stand out as an outlier size-wise. She is active, healthy, and growing each week, and her vet visit was perfect, so she likely just inherited small genes (this happens sometimes with cross breed dogs who have both larger and smaller ancestors).
Blue: 3.3lb: I cannot get over this boys precious personality! He is a cuddly, playful little clown who keeps us laughing with all the silly antics he gets into. He is playful, loving, makes good eye contact, and thrives on attention. He has a wavy fleece coat. He rated "all neutral" on the temperament testing scale (11 N's).
Orange: 2.7lb: Mr. Orange has been stealing hearts with his easy going temperament. He really does have a middle-of-the-road personality and just seems to hang out well with anyone during playtime, rotating between play with siblings and attention from us. Then he chills out happily for cuddles and a nap (in our lap of course). He rated "very neutral, maybe leaning passive" on the temperament testing scale below (10 N's, 1 P).
Red: 3.1lb: This guy is a sweet cuddle bug and will thrive with someone who wants a shadow-puppy. After some praise, treats, and cuddles, he is ready to be your BFF forever! He has a wavy fleece coat and is built quite stocky. He rated "very neutral maybe leaning passive" on the temperament testing scale below (10 N's, 1 P).
Green: 3.2lb: This boy has the classic doodle "puppy eyes" and a sweet, gentle spirit. He prefers calm cuddles to active play- but this will change in the coming weeks as he builds his confidence. Mr. Green has a wavy fleece coat and is very stocky in build (not BIG, but has a blocky frame, more like a retriever than a poodle). He rated "primarily neutral leaning passive" on the temperament testing scale below (8 N's, 3 P's). Please see note below about vet visit.
Aqua: 3.2lb: Aqua is a goofy boy who loves playtime with his siblings. He is loving and playful towards all humans and dogs alike. After playtime he is more than happy to lay right next to you, and wants to be petted. Aqua has a lovely wavy fleece coat and the longest eyelashes of all the pups here! Like all the others, he rated "very neutral, maybe leaning passive" on the temperament testing scale below (10 N's, 1 P).
Yellow: 3.3lb: This girl is hilarious! She is perfect for an active family that wants a pup that loves everyone she meets. Her tail never stops wagging! She is confident, alert, a fast learner, and ready to play! She has a wavy fleece coat. She rated "very neutral, maybe leaning assertive" on the temperament testing scale (10 N's, 1 A).
Purple: 1.7lb: This sweet girl has come out of her shell this week! She really enjoys human interaction and plays with her paws, waving at us when she wants attention. She enjoys her siblings, but really loves human interaction too. Ms. Purple has a wavy fleece coat, is estimated to land BELOW the estimated weight range, we are thinking 15-ish lb. She rated "primarily neutral leaning passive" on her temperament testing scale below (8 N's, 3 P's).
Vet visits went great! All pups cleared their checkups without any issue except Green.
Mr. Green has a VERY tiny umbilical hernia. It is barely visible (perhaps the size of a pencil eraser) and will not cause any problems. We recommend that it be corrected at the time of his neuter, this generally costs $50-$100, so he will be discounted $100 to cover this. If you are interested in Mr. Green, reach out and I will give you more details. I wouldn't let this note on his records influence your decision. Umbilical hernias are quite common in your puppies, we have a couple a year. We refer to them as "outie" belly buttons.
Temperament Testing:
Using [A] for active response,
[N] for neutral and
[P] for passive based on:
1. Observation. Watching how she plays with other puppies, does she jump right
into group activities [A], hanging in the midst of the activity [N], or submitting
when approached [P].
Blue: N
Orange: N
Red: N
Green: N
Aqua: N
Yellow: N
Purple: N
2. Play. When you first take a puppy aside to play with, is he hyper [A], easy going
[N] or does he just want to be petted [P].

Orange: N
Red: N
Green: P
Aqua: N
Yellow: N
Purple: P
3. Cradle. When cradling a puppy in your arms, does he relax [P], wiggle a bit and
then relax [N] or kick like crazy [A].
Blue: N
Orange: N
Red: N
Green: N
Aqua: N
Yellow: N
Purple: P
4. Call back. Using a treat or squeak toy and calling to the puppy while backing
away, does he race after you while jumping or nipping at your ankles [A], follow
happily [N] or hesitate and need coaxing [P].
Blue: N
Orange: N
Red: N
Green: N
Aqua: N
Yellow: N
Purple: N
5. Tuck and pat. When kneeling/sitting on the floor, settle the puppy between your
legs. Pet him in long gentle strokes as you praise him softly. Does he wriggle free
as he nips [A], wriggle and then relax [N] or simply melt in your embrace [P].

Orange: P
Red: P
Green: P
Aqua: N
Yellow: N
Purple: P
6. Bend over. Stand up, stretch and relax. Now go to your puppy and lean over to
pet him. Your doing this may seem overwhelming to the pup because you're so
large and he's so small. Does he jump up at your face [A], crouch and freeze [P]
or just relax and let it happen [N].

Orange: N
Red: N
Green: N
Aqua: N
Yellow: N
Purple: N
7. Nose kiss. Cradle your puppy's face in your hands and kiss him on the nose.
Does he bite you back [A], accept the smooch calmly or return the interaction
with a soft bite or kiss [N] or freeze [P].

8. Toe squeeze. In this exercise, you're testing your puppy's reaction and sensitivity
to discomfort. While petting the puppy, gently squeeze the skin between his toes.
Does he attack your hand. If so, he's definitely an A type personality with high
sensitivity. A neutral puppy may lick or mouth gently, whereas a passive puppy
will whimper and appear anxious.

9. Startle sound. Take a bunch of keys and when your prospective puppy least
expects it, rattle them above his head and gauge his reaction. Does he attack the
keys [A]. Does he give it a nonchalant glance [N]. A fear reaction is noted by
crouching or withdrawal [P].

10. Crash test. Stand and wait until your puppy is no longer interested in you.
Suddenly fall to the ground as if you've tripped and exclaim "Ouch" Does the
puppy race over and pounce [A], come to sniff or lick your face [N] or cower and
run in fear [P].

11. Uplift. Lift the puppy 4 inches off the floor by cradling his midsection. Hold him
there for at few seconds. Does he wriggle furiously [A]? Does he relax
and look around [N]. Does he look nervous and constrict his body posture [P].

All A's: This dominant puppy is bright and interactive. Raising him will take
concentration, consistency and time. His favorite expression is "What's Next!"
All N's: Easy going and contained, this puppy will be pleasant and self-assured, though
perhaps not terribly motivated to follow your agenda when it conflicts with his own. His
favorite expression is "Is it absolutely necessary?"
All P's: This puppy has a weak self-esteem and needs your reassurance to feel safe.
Without proper lessons and socialization, he'll be shy. His favorite expression: "It's been
3 minutes, do you still love me?"
Mix of A and N's: This active puppy will want to be in the middle of everything but will
show slightly more impulse control when stimulated. His favorite expression is: "Let's do
it again"
Mix of N and P's: This self-assured puppy will be easygoing and gentle yet with a
stronger sense of self than a completely passive puppy. Because he's more composed,
he'll be an ideal puppy for a calm house with or without older children.
Favorite expression: "Another back scratching please!"
