Schedule a vet appointment for within 3 days of the date that your puppy joins your family (this is required)!

Parasite Prevention
I use 1-800-PetMeds to order:
  • Heartgard Plus as Heartworm Prevention (vet prescription req'd)
  • Frontline Plus for Flea/Tick Prevention

Against vet recommendation, I do not treat for fleas/ticks year-round. I spot check dogs for fleas/ticks and only treat as needed. If I MUST use a prevention I treat my dogs with Frontline Plus.

The main thing I want you to take from this recommendation is to do your own research and be informed! If I find something that is extremely safe and works well, I will post it here. Let me know what works for you! I do NOT recommend oral pesticides like Trifexis, Bravecto, Comfortis, Triheart, or Nexgard... this list could go on. 
Dog Food
Order the "Chicken and Oatmeal" formula 2-3 weeks before getting your puppy. If you are getting a pup short-notice, please let us know and we can send food with your puppy's go-home kit to get you through until your bag arrives. If you plan to switch to another brand of food, please WAIT until your puppy has fully transitioned to your home before trying a new food... and transition to the new brand slowly to avoid tummy upset.
