5th Pupdate:
Thanks for your patience with me this week with the slow Pupdates. We still may not get a video out for you until Sunday (but hope to make it a special one). Harper's litter has gone from being toddlers to active, playful puppies. Just like Lucy's litter, they are chunky, hearty babies and they have started to improve their aim on the potty grid. They have had a few meals of puppy mush and will begin to eat on a schedule this coming week as we help mom wean them. Harper's litter goes to the vet this week. Vet information will be posted below.
Ms. Purple: 2.50lb: An thoughtful, intelligent little gal who likes attention and play time.
Ms. Yellow: 2.88lb: A super sweet, happy go lucky girl with a goofy streak, she likes to play and is a tail wagger.
Mr. Blue: 3.32lb: Oh my goodness, those curls! This teddy bear keeps you laughing. When exploring something new, he acts super confident, but is then quick to retreat to the safety of mom when he feels in over his head.
Mr. Green: 3.38lb: This easy going fella is a gentle, playful little man who loves to try and keep up with the "big dogs" (aka the other moms here, especially Lucy)!
Mr. Black: 3.38lb: Is a super sweet, sensitive boy who wants nothing more than gentle cuddles. He has big puppy dog eyes and will look at you like you are his world!
Mr. Red: 3.52lb: Is a happy go lucky momma's boy with a big appetite! He dives into the puppy mush bowl- it is hilarious. He likes to play.
Mr. Orange: 3.30lb: An active, intelligent guy who really likes to interact with people. I suspect he will LOVE training classes with his new family!

Vet Exam Information:
Pups go to the vet this week (15th). We will post at the bottom of this section once they get their exams. Our vet is EXTREMELY thorough, which we love. He makes a point to note everything about each pup after a thorough examination. We describe puppy vet exams in three different ways... perfect, normal, or abnormal.
A perfect exam is what it sounds like, it means that the vet didn't notice anything out of the ordinary, and so no notes are made on that pup's record sheet. It is unusual for every pup in a litter to get a perfect vet exam.
A normal exam is when a pup has something worth noting, but it is not expected to impact the health of the pup, or quality as a pet. It is not unusual for puppies to have imperfect exams at this age. They are growing at a rapid pace, and this sometimes results in awkward phases. In fact, sometimes we have more pups in a litter with "normal" exams than "perfect" exams! Normal exam findings generally correct themselves with age, or (in the case of an umbilical hernia) may need a very simple correction at the time of spay/neuter. Examples of imperfect, but normal puppy exams include a small under or overbite, a small umbilical hernia, "puppy laxity" of the patellas, an low grade heart murmur (which is expected to go away as the pup grows), or a missing a testicle (sometimes they don't both "drop" until a pup is older). We will ALWAYS notify you of any such things at the first vet visit, and you are NOT required to take a pup that you do not feel comfortable with due to any exam finding, even if it is a somewhat normal finding for a growing pup. We will only allow pups to go home if we feel comfortable that the issue is benign or will go away with age.
Abnormal exams are when pups have an exam that concerns us for their long term health. An example of this would be severe patellar luxation (extremely loose knee joints- very different than typical puppy laxity), a loud heart murmur (ex, 4 out of 6), cataracts, etc. In these situations, where the severity of the issue in question may impact their long term health, we "pull" the puppy from the reservation list and they are no longer available until we can either wait for the next exam of have the pup checked by a specialist, depending on the issue. We have been very blessed in that every single pup we have ever had to pull from a list due to an abnormal exam has ended up being just fine and the condition went away with age! Still- we don't let pups go to new homes until we are comfortable that they can live normal, happy lives.

All A's: This dominant puppy is extremely bright and interactive. Raising him will take concentration, consistency and time and an experienced owner is recommended. They can be extremely rewarding pets for someone who wants to have a highly trained companion or competition dog of some sort (Agility, dock diving, etc).
All N's: Easy going and contained, "All N" puppies will be pleasant and an ideal pet for most families. These middle-of-the-road pups are confident enough that they won't live for their owner's approval and guidance like a "P" puppy would (N pups can be stubborn at times) but they won't be as defiant as an "A" puppy can be.
All P's: This puppy has a weak self-esteem and needs your reassurance to feel safe. Without proper lessons and socialization, he'll be shy. With proper socializing, "P" pups can "built up" to make excellent family dogs and tend to be very attached to their owners.
Mix of A and N's: This active puppy will want to be in the middle of everything but will show more impulse control when stimulated than an all "A" puppy. "A/N" puppies are great for loud/active families that want a pup with lots of personality and confidence, but that are not nearly as intense as "all A" puppies.
Mix of N and P's: This self-assured puppy will be easygoing and gentle yet with a stronger sense of self than a completely passive puppy. Because he's more composed, he'll be an ideal puppy for a calm household.

4th Pupdate
Harper's litter has gotten much more mobile this week and has been introduced to the potty grid, which was a little hit and miss initially, but now they are getting the hang of it! They are taking in new sights and sounds and beginning to react more to outside stimuli (ex. when mom barks, they all perk up). Everyone is chunky, chunky, chunky and growing so well. Harper is fabulous, as always. Video will be posted Saturday evening.
Ms. Purple: 2lb 0.9oz: This sweet girl is the drama queen of the group! She is independent and thoughtful.
Ms. Yellow: 2lb 4.3oz: This sweetie is happy go lucky, interested in new things and ready to adventure.
Mr. Blue: 2lb 9.3oz: This handsome hunk is a momma's boy, wants to follow her all over the pen! He is a little ahead of his littermates, while everyone wanted to lay down for their photo, it took a little longer to get him to hold still, and he kept trying to sit up and walk around!
Mr. Green: 2lb 10.1oz: This submissive, sweet boy has the most expressive face and is a cuddler. He is a chunky guy.
Mr. Black: 2lb 9.8oz: Wants nothing more than to fall asleep in your arms during a cuddle session!
Mr. Red: 2lb 11.8oz: This active little man is always on the move and already willing to venture a little away from his siblings (quite independent)!
Mr. Orange: 2lb 9.8oz: Is a lovely little dood with a sweet, happy-go-lucky temperament. He has a tendency to nap during photo sessions and the daily weights.

Mommy Harper is spoiling her cuties! Both Lucy and Harper's litters are SUPER chunky and thriving. Harper is an extremely attentive mother and, if she isn't in the whelping box letting her babes nurse, she is laying right outside, guarding the entrance. She only leaves them to spend 10-15 minutes in the yard to play with "sister" Lucy a couple times each day.

Happy Birthday! 7 beautiful babies!
Harper is continuing the trend of early deliveries... she had 7 gorgeous pups on the evening of 1/10. 2 girls and 5 boys.
Mommy and pups are doing well. Harper hates the foreign color ID collars on her babies, so it will be a few days before we try reintroducing those.
*You guys have been SO patient, thank you! Newborn photos will be posted 1/13.
