Pupdates!

Sept 4th Pupdate:
We decided not to take reservations on Penny's litter because she only had a single pup last time. Well, sure enough, Penny gave birth to 5 beautiful girls on September 3rd, 2017! We may retain one for our program, so we are offering the other 4 to pet homes (on a spay/neuter contract).  Not very often that we have this many available without a wait! If you are interested in getting on our reservation list, visit our Application Process Page for additional information about the purchase process and to fill out an application.

Miss Pink, was born first at 4:24 pm
Miss Purple was born 2nd, at 4:46pm
Miss Yellow, the little one of the bunch, was 3rd at 5:07 pm
Miss Orange was 4th at 5:49 pm
Miss White, the whopper, was the 5th and final puppy born at 6:22 pm

All the puppies and mommy are doing well!

Sept 9th Pupdate:
Holy moly! These roly pollies are growing like weeds! They spend most of their day at the milk bar, but are slowly showing hints of their future personalities (of course, how they behave now may very well change as they grow, so don't settle on your puppy picks quite yet).

Miss Pink is the wiggle butt of the bunch, she can't walk yet but that doesn't stop her! She scoots with her front legs and drags her back behind her.  When the milk bar opens for business, she is the early bird... and it is beginning to show. This little piggy is the 2nd largest of the bunch.  So far we can't tell if she will be a curly or wavy- maybe just a perfect mix of the two!

Miss Purple has already been dubbed "persistent purple" around these parts. She isn't as fast as the others, and is often last to the milk bar, but that doesn't stop her from getting a good spot. She will climb on top of the others if she has too, and she will keep nursing long after the others have fallen into a sleepy stupor. Miss Purple is the deepest red of the bunch, just a shade darker- almost a mahogany! This sweetheart is going to have beautiful red curls!

Miss Yellow, oh boy! Though not small enough to be called the "runt," this little daisy has a special place in our eyes because she is the baby of the bunch. She is so endearing, and knows exactly how to pull on our heartstrings (though she can't open her eyes yet, we bet that she is a puppy-eyes master)! When she sleeps, she likes to make silly faces with her tongue, we managed to snap a photo- look for it in their gallery! Miss Yellow has a wavy coat.

Miss Orange is the talker and the ham! She lets you know when she is hot, cold, hungry, full, wants a lick or a cuddle... she has quite the personality and actually enjoys being cradled and carried around, and her foot will already wiggle when you give her belly a scratch! Miss Though she doesn't wiggle around as much as Miss Pink, Miss Orange is lighter and is able to lift her chest off the ground. She can almost get her rear legs under her. I bet she will be the first walker! Miss Orange has a wavy coat.

Miss White is one chunky monkey and a lazy lover... it makes sense that she was the last puppy born.  She is a content little sleeper, and thought she is usually last to the milk bar, she has enough weight to scoot everyone else over to get to her usual nursing place. Miss Pink is quite a bit bigger than all the others (though Miss Pink has been trying hard to keep up) and it looks like she will have beautiful red curls!

Penny has really taken to this whole "mommy" thing!  For those of you who know her, Penny LIVES for tennis balls... well not when babies are here! She is too busy tenderly licking and swooning over her sweethearts to play ball. She is so attached, in fact, that she won't leave them even for a second- I have to put a leash on her to get her to go outside and potty!

Sept 18th Pupdate:
Yawzer! It has been 9 days since our last pupdate! Well, time flies when you are having fun.

The puppies have been busy with the big 4... eating, sleeping, pooping, and growing! Momma is doing a great job keeping everyone clean and fed, she sure does love those babies. In the last 3 days we have had the biggest change yet- sweet baby blue puppy eyes! Started on day 15 :) See the gallery for photos. Below are current puppy weights and an evaluation of their baby personalities...

Miss Pink: Well, Miss Pink was the first one born and is now the heaviest of the bunch at 3lbs 9oz. WOW! She was the first to open her eyes and she likes to sit up and look about. Pink's coat type is the hardest to determine, but she is looking wavy coated at this moment in time.

Miss Purple: This big booger is the darkest red in the bunch, a super stunner! She reminds me a lot of her mommy, Penny, when she was a baby. She will have deep red curls with a little white marking right on her chest. Miss Purple is pretty laid back and moves a lot in her sleep and she likes to nurse on her siblings' ears, toes, and tails. She is right in the middle of this group at 2lbs 11.6oz.

Miss Orange: Well this lover is quite the prissy polly, when she isn't happy, she lets Momma know with her nice strong vocal chords. She is the 2nd lightest in the bunch at 1lb 14oz, and she uses that to her advantage- she shimmys herself round and round in the whelping box, she likes to stay on the move! Miss Orange definitely has a wavy fleece coat.

Miss Yellow: This little sweetheart is still the baby in the bunch, only 2lbs 8oz. She has mastered the skill of scooting backwards (not sure if I have seen that before). When Momma decides it is time to open the milk bar, I actually saw this little daisy beat the others by going in reverse! Miss Yellow has also mastered the bark- she is quick to give a series of yips when she is excited and she is just a darling to hold! Miss Yellow definitely has a wavy fleece coat.

Miss White: Well, we knew early on this butterball was a chunky monkey. Miss Pink may have passed her in weight, but at 2lb 14.3oz, Miss White is hot on her tail. She is still the lazy lover of the bunch, Miss White spends her days sleeping (she has mastered the upside down, legs sprawled, snoring doodle pose) and when she isn't sleeping, she is EATING! Miss White has a precious curly coat and I bet she will end up with a beautiful retriever style blocky head!

Sept 25th Pupdate:

WHOA! These muppets have figured out that they have legs! They have been motoring all over their whelping box, so we added their litter pan today. We use alfalfa pellets inside the box (instead of paper, pads, or shavings) so that they quickly affiliate the smell of grass with potty. We believe that this makes house training much easier when you take the little tykes home.

Miss Pink: Is getting BIG! Still the biggest in the bunch, and the pushiest at the milk bar... what a ham! She is the first to have teeth erupt as well- Mama Penny says OUCH! Luckily no others have reached this milestone yet (they are just a couple days behind).

Miss Purple: What a lover! This cutie pie is one lean mean walking machine. She can motor around better than any of the others, and she is the first to "greet" me at the side of their whelping box.

Miss Orange: This little cutie went from a vocal prissy polly to quite a mellow, quiet gal- isn't it funny how they change as they grow? I love the looks of this pup! She has a nice blocky head and square build.

Miss Yellow: OH LORDY, this Daisy has discovered her voice. She is quick to howl -wolf style- any time she is frustrated (or just feels like it). When one in the bunch starts yipping, she is quick to join in. She has a motor too- she races Miss Purple circles around the box!

Miss White: Such a goof! This sweetheart loves belly scratches and naps- still the lazy lover of the bunch, but definitely getting more active day by day. She makes the cutest expressions with her eyes, and she was the first one to use the litter box (quite the achievement).

October 3rd Pupdate:

These cowgirls are coming to life! They are wrestling, barking, tugging, and zooming around- it's really amazing how much they grow day by day! In fact, they have gotten so big that they have outgrown their collars... so if you see photos in the gallery and you would like to know who someone is, just email me the pic and I can tell you :) They have graduated from the whelping box to the puppy pen, so they have more space to explore, which includes a puppy sized wobble board, seesaw and cat walk, an adventure box with about 20 different items hanging from it to expose them to different sights, sounds, and textures, a raised kuranda bed, their litter pan, and of course, their first crate!

We have had lots of personality changes this week. Some of the pups have taken a 180 from their "infant" personalities. Keep in mind, every week these gals will change, the outgoing pup this week could end up being the shy pup next week... that is all part of their normal development, and "fear periods" can effect puppies at slightly different times. Momma Penny is still doing a fantastic job, but we are getting a little worried about her dropping too much weight, so we are going to be introducing the babies to "puppy mush"! I will post pictures of their first meal (we are doing that on Wednesday 10/4, so expect posted photos by the 5th).

Miss Pink: AKA Miss independent! She is confident in herself, and is less interested in human or puppy attention. She is very content playing or sleeping by herself (by herself, I mean on the other side of the puppy pen). Miss Pink is looking like she will probably be on the larger side when she is full grown, she has longer legs and bigger feet than the others! We weren't sure about her coat until this week, but at this point I am pretty certain she will have the doodle-classic wavy/fleece coat.

Miss Purple: This silly gal really reminds me of her Momma, Penny! She can play, play, and play some more! She is adventurous and doesn't tire out as quickly as some of the others. Miss Purple really seeks out human attention and likes to be held and praised, I think she will be a quick learner. She is also the BEST at going to the litter box, she has really figured it out with what I would say is 90%+ accuracy! Not shabby for only being a month old!

Miss Orange: Miss Orange is a very sensitive little lady this week.  She takes everything slowly- cautious about her next steps. For those who follow Puppy Culture, her startle response has been much more extreme than the others, my guess is she is having a "stronger" fear period! Totally normal part of development, and I expect in the next few days we may see a completely different personality change. When Miss Orange is in her comfort zone, she is a hoot. She is the tug of war champ of the bunch, and she has some mega-cute expressions. Totally mastering the puppy eyes!

Miss Yellow: I am quite confident that this cutie pie is going to be more petite than her litter mates, she has smaller features and is so cute! She is a rascal, the ultimate ninja-attack wrestling instigator. She already gets the doodle zoomies, and is really a hoot to watch because you just never know what she is going to do. She enjoys licking your chin while you give her cuddles! She is thoughtful, and is very quick with barrier challenges. She was the first to investigate the wobble board and seesaw as well!

Miss White: Ok, you all are not going to believe this one... Miss White had a crisis and went from the lazy, chubby sleeper  and turned into an energizer bunny! She is so fun to watch, and enjoys talking to herself and everyone around her when she is playing. She is very curious and confident, so confident that she managed to slip out of the puppy pen while I was cleaning it out (I only turned my back for 30 seconds, I swear) and  she was playing with the big dogs!  She is loads of fun right now, still a super lover (lots of kisses when you cuddle her) but not so lazy anymore!

October 8th Pupdate:

You all would not BELIEVE how much growing these pups have been doing.  All are in a little bit of an awkward period, and watching them run around the dog room is hilarious. Their legs are growing too fast for them to adjust to the length! They are really catching on to this "kibble" thing- still nursing from Mama but not nearly as much. I expect that they will be almost weaned about a week from now. They LOVE to puppy pile in the hard crate at night. I managed to sneak up on them and snapped a cute pic! They have been incorporating with the "pack" for a few days, and are enjoying time outside. When the weather clears up, I will try and get some good outdoor photos for you all!

Miss Pink: This little gal has larger feet than the rest- looks like she may be a big one! She is sweet as pie and I am loving her coat. She is almost certainly wavy, but still has these sweet curls on her ears. She likes being held like a baby and makes great eye contact with people.

Miss Purple: This pup is really gorgeous! Her coat is striking, and everyone that sees her comments on how much darker she is in color than her siblings. She makes some of the silliest expressions, and yawned several times in her little photo session today to create some funny pics. My dad comes over and loves on the babies every couple of days, and he confidentially says that Miss Purple is his favorite. I think it is because she is such a cuddler! Miss Purple really seeks out human attention and is so trusting of people.

Miss Orange: Has really come out of her shell in the last day or two, I think our confidence building exercises are helping her out! She is continuously curious in "her" space, and is quite food motivated. She is a very pretty gal with a nice blocky build.

Miss Yellow: Still a rascal! Miss Yellow is definitely the "little sister" of the bunch., and she doesn't let that stop her at all! She has some small dog spunk, and this week her tail has started to curl over just a bit- so cute! She has tiny feet compared to the rest, and when you hold her in one arm and Miss Pink in the other, you can really feel the size difference!

Miss White: OMG this gal is a HOOT.  She is a blast to watch, she is so confident, thoughtful, and just all around fun! She has a blocky head and a great spirit about her. She really surprised me with her creative thinking yesterday, she was the first pup who has been able to escape the puppy pen area! She climbed on top of the cat walk and used the adventure box to shimmy up and out. She is my mom's pick of the bunch!

October 13th Pupdate:

Everyone went to the vet yesterday! They had a full body check, which includes a veterinary inspection of their eyes, patellas, heart, and general structure. We also have them take a close look for umbilical hernias and abnormal bites, and all girls received a clean bill of health! Pups will each have fecal testing performed before they go home to you (we wait until closer to take home time) to make sure that they are free of intestinal parasites, giardia, and coccidia. Do keep in mind, stress if a contributing factor for  giardia and coccidia, so no matter how careful we are here,  it is possible for your pup to come back positive after they join your family... and most puppies will need to be treated for giardia or coccidia at some point in their puppyhood.  Luckily, both are generally easy to screen for and treat! We recommend that you request a fecal exam when your pup goes in for its 2nd round of shots (you will need to bring a "sample" with you). All weights were taken at the vet (10/12).  Below the personality descriptions is a video link with a few minutes of "one on one time" with each of the 4 available pups, in the order of Miss White, Miss Purple, Miss Yellow, and Miss Pink!  I accidentally had the video muted (whoops) but luckily you can still see how well the babies are doing with recall to "puppy, puppy, puppy."  You can also see how calm and comfortable they are when they are being held upside down... they love having their bellies scratched!

Miss Pink: Is still the biggest girl in the bunch at 7.02 lbs!  She is a very thoughtful, elegant young lady who has a lovely middle of the road temperament. She is independent enough to entertain herself, but still playful and loves belly scratches.  She plays with her paws, and will wave one in the air when she wants your attention, then stares right into your eyes- SO precious! I really feel that Miss Pink will be larger than her siblings, her legs just seem longer in build! She has a really beautiful coat, wavy with loose curls and ringlets on her ears. I am excited to see what it looks like when she is full grown.

Miss Purple: This is the sweetheart of the crew, and is 2nd largest at 6.74lbs.  She absolutely adores people and craves cuddles.  She makes wonderful eye contact, I managed to snap a pic and added it to the litter gallery.  She will just sit and stare right into your soul with these sweet puppy eyes. She is the least food motivated in the group (which can be a good thing or a bad thing), but really wants to please, and has been picking up on communication/training exercises very well.  She is still a shade or two darker than her siblings, and will probably have lovely loose curls like her Momma.

Miss Orange: ON HOLD  - BREEDING PROSPECT, 5.98 lbs.

Miss Yellow: Still the spunky little sister, but oh so loving and sweet! This frisky little gal will be a wonderful addition to a family.  I am quite certain that she will not reach the size of her litter mates, in fact, at 5.4lbs is over half a pound lighter than the next lightest sibling, and she is "compact."  She is very quick with communication/training exercises. She is food motivated and really seems to enjoy the mental stimulation. She is the most excited to be held and wants to give everyone kisses, SUCH a playful cuddlebug. Miss Yellow is going to have the classic wavy fleece doodle coat. What a pretty girl!

Miss White: She was the biggest one when they were born, but she is now the middle child as far as weight goes, at 6.64lbs. Miss White is going to bring her family so much joy with her goofy, adventurous personality!  She is the most confident and fearless, and will be great for a busy household because she takes new situations in stride. She has a beautiful head and a very thick, curly coat- perfect for cuddles when properly groomed! Today when cleaning up the puppy pen, I propped their Kuranda bed up for a couple minutes to air dry- look what happened here > VIDEO. Too funny!
