I appreciate your patience with my getting these posted! It seems like I can't catch up lately and I ended up having to recruit help for videos- these wiggly butts are hard to videotape!
I am VERY happy that we waited to post below videos/information. Their personalities really established this week, both Pippa and Scout's litter get along very well despite the size differences and we have greatly enjoyed watching all the pups interact together.
Vet exams- everyone passed in both Pip and Scout's litters. All normal exams :)
Size- estimated range (15-25lb) should be relatively accurate for all. I expect Aqua will be towards the low end of this, while Blue may push the top limit. I think 20lb is going to be average for this litter.
Weights taken by my vet on 3/29
Ms. Purple: 3.4lb
Ms. Pink: 3.4lb

All A's: This dominant puppy is extremely bright and interactive. Raising him will take concentration, consistency and time and an experienced owner is recommended. They can be extremely rewarding pets for someone who wants to have a highly trained companion or competition dog of some sort (Agility, dock diving, etc).
All N's: Easy going and contained, "All N" puppies will be pleasant and an ideal pet for most families. These middle-of-the-road pups are confident enough that they won't live for their owner's approval and guidance like a "P" puppy would (N pups can be stubborn at times) but they won't be as defiant as an "A" puppy can be.
All P's: This puppy has a weak self-esteem and needs your reassurance to feel safe. Without proper lessons and socialization, he'll be shy. With proper socializing, "P" pups can "built up" to make excellent family dogs and tend to be very attached to their owners.
Mix of A and N's: This active puppy will want to be in the middle of everything but will show more impulse control when stimulated than an all "A" puppy. "A/N" puppies are great for loud/active families that want a pup with lots of personality and confidence, but that are not nearly as intense as "all A" puppies.
Mix of N and P's: This self-assured puppy will be easygoing and gentle yet with a stronger sense of self than a completely passive puppy. Because he's more composed, he'll be an ideal puppy for a calm household.

*Still waiting on sound approval for background music for below video, however I am going to go ahead and post so you can start thinking about your options!
Toddler Pupdate:
***It has been brought to our attention that our toddler pupdate didn't post properly! I am sorry we didn't catch this prior. The information below was written 3/16. I will be emailing everyone now to check in and make sure delayed puppy pick dates work***
Scout's Fabulous Five are officially "real puppies"! The are starting to really play with one another and their sweet little personalities are coming out. Ms. Aqua (adopted by Pippa) is a LOVER. She is outgoing, playful, and energetic. She has never met a stranger... it was hard to get photos of Aqua because all she wanted to do was kiss the camera! While she isn't officially back on the list, I expect she will pass her exam just fine. If so, she will be available! Mr. Blue and Mr. Red are quite similar, both boys are happy-go-lucky, playful little guys who like to explore. I think they are best buds, as they always seem to be playing and sleeping together. Ms. Purple is the sweetheart of the bunch, she loves gentle cuddles and will give kisses to reciprocate affection. We LOVE Ms. Pruples little brown-pigmented nose. We aren't quite sure what causes this unique coloring, but we have seen it 1 other time in a previous puppy of hers. Ms. Pink is a sassy little gal is silly and sweet. She is the smallest of the quad still in Scout's care (Aqua- who was adopted by Pippa, is the tiniest) but that doesn't slow her down with her bigger siblings. These babies will be introduced to the potty grid and solid food this week.
This litter is a little behind the curb with their milestones. This isn't atypical whatsoever, every litter grows at their own rate, but it makes me anxious to have puppy selections on the 25th. I would like to post-pone puppy selections until 3/30 so that we can really see their personalities emerge before you choose your baby. This also allows me to get an evaluation done on Ms. Aqua, and will delay first exam/vaccines a few days as well- which is my preference since some of these babies are small. Is this possible for everyone? Please reach out if this doesn't work for you!!!

Eyes Open Pupdate:
Scout's Fabulous Five are beginning to open their eyes and explore the world around them! Scout is a very attentive mommy. All 5 are thriving, including, Scout's Ms. Aqua, who was adopted by Pippa. Scout's Ms. Aqua has continued to gain each day and thrive the last couple weeks without any further problems. She is strong and feisty! Scout's litter is a quiet, docile litter who still spends most of their time eating and sleeping in a milk-drunk stupor. Scout must have ultra rich milk, because every pup she has ever raised ends up weighing about double what typical pups this size weigh at this age. Don't worry, they will lose their baby weight and double chins here in a few weeks. We are so excited to see their personalities develop in the coming weeks!
Ms. Purple: 1121 grams, wavy
Ms. Pink: 1041 grams, wavy
Mr. Blue: 1484 grams, wavy (wow, what a chunk!)
Mr. Red: 1075 grams, wavy
Ms. Aqua: 739 grams, wavy - not available at this time, though she is doing wonderfully and is on track to be placed back on our list pending a normal vet exam at 6 weeks.

Ms. Aqua has been struggling with suspected aspiration pneumonia. Aspiration pneumonia occurs when a dog inhales fluid or food. It is most common in young puppies when fluid is inhaled at the time of birth or while nursing. If not caught early enough, aspiration pneumonia in newborns is often fatal, but if successfully treated they can recover fully and thrive. She started showing symptoms over the weekend and we have been working closely with our vet to get her through this. We tube fed her for 2 days, she seems to have turned a corner and was ready to start nursing again. We decided that it would be better for her to have smaller siblings so that she doesn't have to compete so hard for a spot at the milk bar... so she has been adopted by Pippa! Our mommies are SO sweet.

Previous Scout/Rudy Puppies
Previous Puppy- Meet Chloe!
Chloe is an 4th generation Red Spring Farm pup and future mommy here at Red Spring Farm. We owned her mommy Scout, Grandma Lucy, and Great Grandma Luna. Just when we don't think it can get any better- it does! Chloe is loved deeply by her guardian family who believes she is perfect in every way. She loves to hike and play with her "big brother" George, who is a standard doodle who is 80lb. She has a gorgeous, wavy, non-shedding coat. Chloe loves to snuggle and is in the low-20lb range. |
