Pupdates!

 10/12/18 - 7 Weeks + Temperament Testing
Tessa's tots are doing great! They had their vet visit this week and everyone passed just fine. The only note made for any of the pups was that Mr. Orange's left patella is a little looser than we would like, HOWEVER, both the vet and I decided it was not worth pulling him from the selection list, as this is likely just an awkward stage in his growth which will correct itself as he grows. My vet typically finds 1 or 2 of these "growth things" per litter, and so far every pup has always grown out of them :) We have unfortunately lost power at Red Spring Farm once again to hurricane Michael. I was able to take photos and drive to the library to update the website, but with the power loss, my veterinary scale is not working, so I will have to update weights below once we get power again. The pups are all comparable to their litter mates in the same manner they were at our 6 week Pupdates.

Remember- Puppy selection day is Saturday 10/13!!!
PLEASE keep your phone on you from 9AM until I call you on Saturday. If you want to verify your phone number with me (I will use the number provided on your application) then email or text me the best number to reach you at ASAP. If I call you and get no response, I will email you and try to call again every 15 minutes. Once an hour has passed, I will have to assign you a puppy based on your application and move on to the next person on the list. PLEASE do not put me in the position to choose your puppy for you!

MY phone: 336-465-6023 (call or text)
My email: Kristen@redspringfarm.com

I will update the list above as families make their selections.

*One last quick update, we did chose to do a fecal test at the puppy vet visit, and we just got the results in. The pups did test positive for Giardia, a very common puppy parasite which we discuss in our Take Home Video. About 1 in 4 of our litters test positive for Giardia before they leave and most pups test positive for it at some point before they turn 6 months old. Luckily, the only symptom that a couple pups are experiencing is SLIGHTLY loose stool (no diarrhea). Puppies will all receive veterinary prescribed treatment here (metronidazole/fenbendazole combo) for 5 days (once power returns and we can get the medication, which needs to be refrigerated) and they will be sent home with follow up treatment so that it will be knocked out by your first vet appointment. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Mr. Green (6lbs 8oz) Holy Puppy this guy is huge! He is a stocky, blocky, belly-rub lover, that you just want to cuddle with all day long. He has a happy-go-lucky golden temperament and definitely got many characteristics from his golden retriever heritage.  This fella is DEFINITELY going to be on the heavier end of the expected weight range, and may exceed it because of his stocky build.

Mr. Orange  (6lb 5oz) Just a couple ounces lighter than Mr. Green, this dood is still a chunk! He definitely has a golden retriever type head and build (his head is a tiny bit blockier than Mr. Green's) and is just as sweet as pie. He is going to be disappointed when he grows up and can't fit in your lap! This fella is DEFINITELY going to be on the heavier end of the expected weight range, and may exceed it because of his stocky build.

Ms. Yellow  (5lb 3oz) This sweetie pie's 6 week personality has held true this week as well. She is confident, energetic, and independent- a fun little cuddle butt. She was a hit with the vet techs at the vet visit.

Mr. Dark Blue (4lb 11oz) This cuddle bug approaches new situations with caution but is not fearful, and adjusts very quickly once he has a few seconds to evaluate the situation. He gains confidence every day and is not overly energetic.

Mr. Red  (4lbs 2oz) Still a soft-natured, loving dood, Mr. Red has come out of his shell quite a bit this week! He is eager to please and really craves human attention. He will thrive in a home that uses positive reinforcement training.

Mr. Light Blue (4lb 8oz) Agh, just so darn CUTE!!!!
He is still the smallest pup in the litter and is pushed around a little bit, but he doesn't mind, he just bounces right back. He be a little unsure in new situations, but once he has time to process and observe, he is good to go.

Mr. Black (5lb 14oz) Mr. Black is precious and really knows how to work the camera! He makes excellent eye contact and is built a little taller than his siblings (with the exception of the two huge pups, Green and Orange).  He is a cuddly fellow that loves being held.

Ms. Purple (4lb 12oz) Just as petite and feminine as ever, this gal is all girl! She likes to be the shadow of her "person" and is a little bit of a loner from the rest of the litter (though when she decides it is time to play, she is all in).

All A's: This dominant puppy is bright and interactive. Raising him will take
concentration, consistency and time. His favorite expression is "What's Next!"

All N's: Easy going and contained, this puppy will be pleasant and self-assured, though
perhaps not terribly motivated to follow your agenda when it conflicts with his own. His
favorite expression is "Is it absolutely necessary?"

All P's: This puppy has a weak self-esteem and needs your reassurance to feel safe.
Without proper lessons and socialization, he'll be shy. His favorite expression: "It's been
3 minutes, do you still love me?"

Mix of A and N's: This active puppy will want to be in the middle of everything but will
show slightly more impulse control when stimulated. His favorite expression is: "Let's do
it again"

Mix of N and P's: This self-assured puppy will be easygoing and gentle yet with a
stronger sense of self than a completely passive puppy. Because he's more composed,
he'll be an ideal puppy for a calm house with or without older children. Favorite
expression: "Another back scratching please!"

 10/05/18 - 6 Weeks
Tessa's tots have had yet another busy week growing and learning. This has been a week of lots of new exposures and socialization opportunities, with humans, livestock, cats, and other dogs. This coming week they will be exposed to many new objects, textures, and sounds. They will also begin grooming training with a vibrating toothbrush! With all 8 we are struggling to keep things nice and CLEAN, so they will be spending some time on our porch (which can be hosed down with a veterinary grade cleaner!) when the weather allows it.

Mr. Green (4lbs 6oz) Tied for being the biggest in the litter! He and Mr. Orange are SO similar in both looks and personality, it is often very difficult to tell the difference. Mr. Green stands out by being the lazy lover of the litter, it seems like he always ends up on his back wanting belly rubs in training and play sessions. He approaches new situations with caution but is not fearful, and adjusts very quickly once he has a few seconds to evaluate the situation (this is typical for a 6 week old pup).

Mr. Orange  (4lb 6oz) Still a handsome hunk, this big fella is food motivated and happy go lucky with a solid, middle of the road temperament and energy level. He and Mr. Green are SO similar in both looks and personality. It is often very difficult to tell the difference. He approaches new situations with caution but is not fearful, and adjusts very quickly once he has a few seconds to evaluate the situation (this is typical for a 6 week old pup).

Ms. Yellow  (3lb 8oz) Who let the dogs out?! This wild child has really come into her own this week. She is confident, energetic, and independent- the star of the show. She has adjusted fabulously to new exposures and is just a blast.

Mr. Dark Blue (3lb 6oz) Ah, such a cutie! This "dood" makes great eye contact and is such a little smartie. He enjoys playtime with other dogs. He approaches new situations with caution but is not fearful, and adjusts very quickly once he has a few seconds to evaluate the situation (this is typical for a 6 week old pup).

Mr. Red  (3lb 4oz) Aww, this little man is a soft-natured, loving little guy, he reminds me of his mommy, Tessa, as a pup! He is eager to please and really craves human attention. He is one of the smallest pups in the litter and can be unsure in new situations, but once he has time to process and observe, he is good to go. In the meantime, he finds his safe haven right in my lap.

Mr. Light Blue (3lb 0oz) Oh my goodness, this curly headed cutie is like a real life teddy bear!!! He is darling and a little bit of a drama queen, he is not shy to let you know if he is feeling tired, hungry, left behind or bored.
He is the smallest pup in the litter and can be unsure in new situations, but once he has time to process and observe, he is good to go.

Mr. Black (4lb 0oz) Still a curly cuddle monster! Mr. Black makes excellent eye contact and is going to be a joy to whoever introduces him to their family.
He approaches new situations with caution but is not fearful, and adjusts very quickly once he has a few seconds to evaluate the situation (this is typical for a 6 week old pup).

Ms. Purple (3lb 6oz) This girly girl is too cute! She is very feminine and a little bit of a serious pup this week (though a little coaxing will quickly bring out her playful side). She is relatively independent from her litter mates, but she very much wants to stay close to her human. She approaches new situations with caution but is not fearful, and adjusts very quickly once he has a few seconds to evaluate the situation (this is typical for a 6 week old pup).

 09/28/18 - 5 Weeks
Tessa's awesome eight have had a busy week growing and learning!!! They are working on manding and come and are doing a fabulous job. We had a few days of gorgeous weather at the beginning of the week and they got to spend some time outside with the adult dogs! Unfortunately, it was too wet to do an outdoor photo session this week, though we hope to get a few extra photos posted over the weekend if we get to spend some time outside with the little ones. They are officially on dry food, which mommy Tessa greatly appreciates, because they now have razor sharp puppy teeth... oh joy.

Mr. Green (3lbs 12oz) This sweet cuddlebug has specifically requested a family who will spend lots of time cuddling on the couch after playtime! He is such a momma's boy and loves being carried around. We aren't going to tell him that he may grow too big to be a lap dog...

Mr. Orange  (3lb 12oz) Still a perfect puppy model (seriously, someone needs to call Purina) Mr. Orange has kept us on our toes this week! He has a strong food drive, and the extra motivation has made him a very fast learner. He has started on "eyes" and makes good eye contact naturally. He is a CHUNK at 3lbs 12oz... what a kibble hog!

Ms. Yellow  (3lb 2oz) This gal has a different "look" than her siblings and is absolutely stunning. She is blocky with a nice square build (especially for a female). She is the Miss Independent in this litter- she is always the one to wander a little farther than the rest or who does her own thing while the others are playing. She still wants to please, especially for treats!

Mr. Dark Blue (2lb 12oz) He gets more handsome every day! Mr. Dark Blue has stunning markings and has a nice compact build. He is thoughtful in new situations and still tilts his head while he thinks (SO cute). He really enjoys time outside with the adult dogs, and makes great eye contact with humans.

Mr. Red  (2lb 8oz) Wow Mr. Red has come out of his shell this week! This "dood" is a cuddlebug and a goofball at the same time. He makes quirky facial expressions, especially when thinking or evaluating a new situation. He is one of the smaller pups in the litter, but still has long lanky legs, a lot like mommy Tessa!

Mr. Light Blue (2lb 8oz) Still an absolute sweetheart, Mr. Light Blue is one of the smallest in the litter and has a thick curly coat. This little guy is going to be extremely attached to his family, he follows me very closely when we have the litter take an excursion outside. He gets extremely excited when he gets a chance to spend time with our adult pack.

Mr. Black (3lb 8oz) A curly cuddle monster! Mr. Black is too much fun. His favorite game involves chasing a toy or a ball, and he is not shy to crawl right into your lap when he is done. He is quick to pick up on basic training/communication exercises and is ready to move on to something new after a very short period of time. So smart!

Ms. Purple (2lb 12oz) Still an absolute sweetie, this gentle little gal is thoughtful in new situations but quickly adapts. She is super smart and has a natural willingness to please. She makes good eye contact and GOSH, those curls! She enjoys spending time with the adult dogs, and uses her front paws quite a lot during play.

 09/21/18 - 4 Weeks
Tessa's awesome eight have had a big week. The little ones are eating puppy mush regularly (Mommy Tessa is happy about that) and they are motoring all over the puppy pen! They are really beginning to play with one another and with humans this week. They are also beginning to use the litter box more consistently, in fact, we were able to introduce the litter pan cover to help keep everything clean. Towards the end of this week we will be expanding the puppy playpen to gives this little ones a little more room to walk.

Mr. Green (2lbs 10oz) Watch out world! Here comes Mr. Green. This big guy sleeps an awful lot, but when he isn't sleeping, he is cuddling with one of us humans, he is playing hard with the other puppies! He did great with his photo shoot!

Mr. Orange  (2lb 8oz) This stinker was a total rock star while getting his photos taken! He wanted to walk towards me the entire time we were taking photos- he almost walked off the couch! This little doodle has a wavy coat and likely on the high end of the anticipated weight range.

Ms. Yellow  (2lb 6oz) This little gal may only weigh 2lbs 6 oz, but she is a chunky monkey. She is going to have the blockier style build as an adult dog, like a Golden Retriever. It is hard to tell in the photos, but she has quite a bit of white markings on her head, chest, and paws.

Mr. Dark Blue (2lb 4oz) This handsome hunk is beyond precious. He is very thoughtful and expressive, he kept tilting his head back and forth during our photo session- a perfect puppy model!

Mr. Red  (2lb 2oz) This little fella is absolutely adorable. He is pretty laid back, and he appreciates scratches behind his ear. He is on the smaller end of the litter. His coat reminds me of mommy Tessa's when she was a pup.

Mr. Light Blue (2lb 2oz) This cutie just melts your heart. He is eager to be right with people (already) and he will wag his tail just because he hears my voice. He is going to LOVE his humans. Such a cuddle bug. Lots of curls already coming out on this one.

Mr. Black (2lb 6oz) Mr. Black is super duper cute... he might be a teddy bear in disguise! He is definitely a love and much prefers my lap to about anywhere else! He is already interested in the (puppy sized) balls so I suspect that he is going to be a natural at "fetch"! This guy is all curl!

Ms. Purple (2lb 6oz) Total sweetheart! This little gal doesn't care how you hold her, she is absolutely content and is just so happy to get belly rubs. She posed beautifully for the camera and is a classic red curly doodle pup.

 09/14/18 - 3 Weeks
They were infants last week... now they are toddlers! Tessa's excellent eight's personalities are coming out (though keep in mind, adult personality cannot be judged this early... expect changes week to week when they are this young).  These little boogers were introduced to a larger whelping pen and a litter box this week. They don't quite have the hang of it yet, but they are improving every day. Tessa is doing extremely well.

Mr. Green (2lbs 2oz) Outgoing, Confident, Playful

Mr. Orange  (2lbs 0oz) Friendly, Laid Back, Goof-Ball

Ms. Yellow  (1lb 13oz) Outgoing, Playful, Active

Mr. Dark Blue (1lb 7oz) Laid Back, Goofy, Cuddly

Mr. Red  (1lb 10oz) Laid Back, Sleepy, Cuddly

Mr. Light Blue (1lb 10oz) Explorer, Cuddly, Playful

Mr. Black (2lbs 0oz) Cuddly, Curious, People Lover

Ms. Purple (1lb 13oz) Laid Back, Belly Rub Lover, Cuddlebug

 09/07/18 - 2 Weeks
We have peepers! These little ones are opening their eyes... right on schedule! All 8 babies and mommy are doing fabulous. We were able to finally add color code collars to the little ones today, they are a little big, but it won't take long for those roly poly milk drunks to grow right into them. It is a little early for me to evaluate individual personalities, however, this week we will begin to see them take their first steps and by this time next week they will begin to naturally pee/poo away from their "sleeping space."

Mr. Green 778 grams

Mr. Orange  729 grams

Ms. Yellow  681 grams

Mr. Dark Blue 538 grams

Mr. Red  637 grams

Mr. Light Blue 627 grams

Mr. Black 748 grams

Ms. Purple 643 grams

 08/31/18 - 1 Week
Babies are doing great! EXTREMELY fat and happy. Mommy Tessa is an wonderful, attentive mommy! She has lost a little more weight than we like this early on, but she is getting plenty of extra goodies throughout the day to help her produce plenty of milk for these roly poly milk drunks. Babies have all gained tremendously and they are FAT!

Mr. Green 581 grams

Mr. Orange  515 grams

Ms. Yellow  467 grams(also, have determined that Ms. Yellow is wavy coated)!

Mr. Dark Blue 385 grams

Mr. Red 445 grams

Mr. Light Blue 454 grams

Mr. Black 582 grams

Ms. Purple 483 grams
